Privacy policy
This policy covers the Cubby Hole website and our games. The short version: our games keep your progress on your phone, we don't run accounts, and the only third party involved is Google, for ads.
Cubby Hole and this website
Cubby Hole is an independent game studio. When this policy says “we” or “us”, it means Cubby Hole. You can reach us at hello@example.com.
This website has no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no third-party scripts or fonts. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We don't use that data to identify you.
Starmere
What stays on your phone
Starmere saves your progress on your device: levels and stars, stardust, boosters, the creatures you have found, your best scores and your settings. We don't run a server for the game, so this data never reaches us.
Starmere has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email address or any other contact details.
If Android backup is turned on for your device, Android may include Starmere's save in your device backup and restore it on a new phone. Google handles that backup under your Google account; we can't see it.
Ads and your consent
Starmere is free and shows ads from Google AdMob: reward videos you choose to watch (for example to continue a level or double a reward) and an occasional ad between levels.
Before any ad is requested, Starmere asks Google's User Messaging Platform whether consent is needed where you live. If it is, Google's consent form appears and your choice decides whether ads can be personalised. When your region requires it, Settings → Privacy options in the game lets you review or change that choice at any time.
To show and measure ads, Google's ads software on your phone collects information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and how you interact with ads. Google processes this under its own privacy policy; how Google uses information from apps that use its services explains more. We receive only aggregated ad reports from Google, never data about you personally.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads). With the ID deleted, ads can still appear but are not personalised with it.
Crash reports
We plan to add crash reporting through Sentry so we can find and fix bugs. It will send error details only (what went wrong, the app version and basic device information such as the Android version) and no personal data. The current version does not send crash reports; we will update this section before that changes.
Permissions
Starmere uses the internet to load ads and consent forms. Google's ads software adds the advertising ID permission. Starmere does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
Children
Starmere is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has shared personal information with us, write to us and we will delete it.
Deleting your data
Uninstall Starmere, or open Android Settings → Apps → Starmere → Storage and tap Clear storage. That deletes your progress and settings for good; we keep no copy. Ad data is held by Google and follows the advertising ID controls above.
Your rights and contact
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK), you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you and to object to how it is used. Because our games keep your data on your device, you can delete it yourself at any time as described above. For data held by Google for ads, use Google's controls, or write to us and we'll help.
